Reflections on an Amazing Year at Mimio

      Find me on:

MannyPerezMimioI recently returned from a training course in San Diego. When I got back to Cambridge, my entire staff was eager and excited to hear about all of the things that I had learned. Near the end of my description of the course, one of them asked me, “Was the course good?” I hesitated for a moment because, in truth, the course was very intense and very tough at times. But as I reflected back on what I was able to accomplish in such a short period of time, and on all of the things that I learned that will help me going forward, the answer was obvious: “Absolutely!”

As 2012 draws to a close, I feel the same way about Mimio. It has been a challenging year, but I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish as a team in such a short period of time. We redefined our core purpose, merging the best of Mimio interactive teaching technology and Headsprout reading curriculum under one shared vision. We took this purpose and unified under a single brand. We launched some great new products, including the MimioStudio ActivityWizard, group lessons for MimioReading comprehension suite (formerly Headsprout Reading Comprehension), MimioReading individualized instruction for the iPad, our absolutely beautiful MimioBoard interactive whiteboard, and a new version of our award-winning MimioStudio classroom software. And these are just a few of my favorite things.

      What’s Ahead for Mimio

I am VERY excited about 2013. The team has been working very hard on so many cool things that I can barely restrain myself from talking about them, but restrain myself I must. I can, however, share with you our theme for 2013 – “flexible solutions” – and a bit of what this means. We will dramatically expand our offering of interactive tools, providing even more flexible solutions to our customers. We will make it even easier for our users to create and share lessons. We will bring mobile devices into the fold. We will allow for flexible learning styles, including whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction. We will take Mimio’s standard of seamless integration and ease of use to the next level. We will take our unique instructional design capabilities into an exciting new subject area. And these are just a few of my favorite things.

I can’t wait to share more with you next year. Have a great Holiday Season and a Happy New Year.
