An online educator community is an extension of the educator network you have in your school and district. The online community allows you to connect with hundreds of teachers who teach your subject and your grade level. You can even get lessons and ideas from students all over the world. In this post we will discuss our MimioConnect™ online educator community. There are many others out there, such as these started by Google and Microsoft. Our FREE teacher-sharing website with FREE materials and resources is ready for you to explore. Simply register at http://www.mimioconnect.com/user and start enjoying the benefits of this community. Read on to learn more.
Lessons, Lessons, and Lessons
A primary benefit of the MimioConnect site is the library of lessons that have been created and shared online by your fellow educators. You can search for lessons by standard or key words. Prior to downloading a lesson, preview thumbnails of it to see if it’s something you’d like to use in your classroom. Download as many lessons as you wish. And if you have favorite lessons you’ve created for your classroom, please upload them to the MimioConnect site and share the wealth!
Note that you can filter your lesson search by selecting the “Lessons and Activities” link and then choosing your grade level or subject area before searching with a key word. As with any search, you should limit the key words, because the more specific you are, the less likely it is that you’ll find something great.
Let’s say you’re looking for lessons you could use for back to school. In the search box, type the key words “back to school.” You’ll see that a Back to School Gallery Pack has just been updated recently. For this download, you will want to have your MimioStudio™ Gallery open. Once you have downloaded this pack, you can find it in the Imported Content Packs folder of your Gallery. Within this Back to School Gallery Pack, each lesson has a “template” (a blank version) of the lesson shared. Use this template and follow the easy, step-by-step directions to add your own content. If you’re feeling creative, use the clip art from the Images folder in the pack to create your own lessons. Don’t forget to share your finished lesson with the MimioConnect community!
Answers to Software and Hardware Questions
Problems with classroom hardware? Stuck on a software-related task? Ask a MimioConnect master! Look for the Ask a Master link at the top of every MimioConnect page. You can look through previously asked questions, search for topics that may have been answered before, or ask a new question. Our “masters” will respond quickly to your questions and get you pointed in the right direction.

Click on the Training link to find FREE Mimio training. There are plenty of short, on-demand tutorials, as well as live Quick Learn sessions on particular products or software features. Watch the on-demand videos or sign up for a Quick Learn session!
