Add a range of interactivity with this simple trick!

Adding sounds to images within your MimioStudio lessons can help create a wide range of enhancements and interactivity. The easiest way to add sounds to objects is by utilizing the Action Settings tool. Simply click on the object that you want to add sound to, then click Insert > Action Settings (or right-click and choose Action Settings). You'll see a dialog box—make sure the Action is set to On Click, then click on the drop-down menu and choose Play Sound for the Feature. You'll see a Load button appear, then you can click and search for your sound file on your computer. You can also drag a sound file into the white box area and drop it there, then click OK.

Your object will now be linked with the sound and have a blue border around it, meaning that it is interactive. To get rid of the blue border, lock it on the page where you want it placed. Whenever the object is clicked on, the sound will play. You can use this to create word recognition activities, games with positive feedback, and much more! Using the same Action Settings tool, you can also add hyperlinks to just about any resource or website. You can learn more about using the Action Settings tool in the “MimioStudio: Formating II” Quick Learn session, offered on November 8 and 29 at 8:30pm.

Add simple shapes to any MimioStudio lesson!

Using MimioStudio, you can create a variety of dynamic objects using the Shape tool. The flexibility of this tool allows you to add simple shapes to any MimioStudio lesson including rectangles, triangles, stars, circles, and ellipses. Using a simple rectangle to cover answers in a lesson that students can manipulate is an easy way to add a small degree of interactivity. In a vocabulary activity, use a combination of a text box and a circle that has the vocabulary word. Using the Animation tool, students can then click on the vocabulary word to magically reveal the definition or other concept. The possibilities of how to use shapes to create interactive lessons is as endless as your imagination—especially when you combine it with other features, such as the Animation or Action Settings tools. Learn more about using the Shape tool in the “A Tour of MimioStudio” Quick Learn session, offered on November 5 and 27 at 7:00pm as well as November 13 at 8:30pm.
