Welcome our Newest Blogger, Sarah Coughlin, a Math Teacher at Hingham High School – and so much more!
Mimio is pleased to welcome our new blogger, Sarah Coughlin, a math teacher from Hingham High School in Massachusetts. We’ll be hearing from her over the upcoming school year, as she sends us Notes from Hingham High. Sarah is a Mimio expert, having spent some time as a Mimio trainer and manager of Mimio’s training department. She previously taught in Virginia, and now has returned to her first love – teaching.
Sarah is a true dynamo, who never lacks for things to keep herself active physically and mentally. Read on to get a good picture of her interests.
What she did over the summer.
“This summer I’ve been managing TechTalk Professional Development, a company that offers online courses on a variety of educational technology topics. I love that learning never stops with teaching and educational technology. And I love to learn new things from both instructors and participants.
“To keep myself physically fit, I confess that my passion is golf, and more golf! In addition to providing great exercise, golf keeps me challenged and offers a good opportunity for socializing. Because I’m so into the sport, I also volunteer as manager of the Women's Golf Association website.
“Of course, you can’t get through the summer without spending time getting ready for the upcoming school year. This summer I’ve been particularly focused on organizing new Hingham Tech Squad projects. During the week prior to teachers coming back, Tech Squad students will be setting up and testing all of the classroom technology to offer a smooth transition for teachers. Also, to keep my teaching skills up to snuff over the summer, I’ve been working as a Professional Development instructor for Hingham Public Schools on Google Apps and Blended Learning.
“I’m looking forward to sharing my day-to-day teaching activities in the blog in the months ahead. I’ll be offering information and advice about technology, including how to incorporate technology into teaching and curriculum. I’m the first to admit that it’s not always easy to integrate technology into the classroom. But when you do, you’ll be amazed at how much more engaged your students will be. I hope the blog readers will enjoy my tech and teaching tips!”
