Holly Fritz-Palao

Creative Manager Holly Fritz-Palao joined Mimio early in 2008. Working closely with Mimio’s marketing and executive teams, Holly is responsible for keeping Mimio’s brand and messaging true to the company’s mission of creating a better way to learn. She works with educators, writers, and designers to create informative content about the rapidly evolving world of educational technology and the ways in which it is impacting classrooms, teachers, and students.

She previously spent seven years with Graphique de France, an international publisher of stationery, posters and calendars. Initially as a graphic designer, and then moving into the role of Creative Director.

Holly holds a BFA from Pennsylvania State University, and also studied at Massachusetts College of Art. As the mother of twin boys, she sees the true importance of education and technology, and can attest that technology is shaping how they learn each day.

Hands-On STEM Learning: 2017 Solar Eclipse Viewing Party

On August 21, Boxlight hosted a solar eclipse viewing party for students from Fulton County Schools in Johns Creek, Georgia—and added an inquiry-based learning element to the event through use of the Labdisc portable STEM lab. Nearly two-dozen people attended the viewing party, with children ranging from elementary students to seventh graders along with executives from Boxlight.

EdTech Startups to Watch

Over the past few years, EdTech investment reached all-time highs as funds poured in through both the public and private sectors. In fact, education technology companies saw growth of over 503% in investment through 2010 to 2014, according to a CBS Insights report. In 2015, deal activity to EdTech startups reached an all-time high, as startups raked in $3.1 billion in 491 deals.

With the education market currently valued at $4.4 trillion per year, there is huge potential for companies looking to disrupt an industry and deliver new ways for students around the world to learn the skills needed for their future careers. And with EdTech poised to capture a great deal of investment in 2017 and become the biggest and most profitable digitized sector yet, a number of companies have emerged to capitalize on this opportunity and offer groundbreaking new products.
