Boxlight interactive displays support OTA (over-the-air) firmware updates. This functionality requires that the built-in Android OS on your display is connected to a live internet connection. OTA firmware updates are helpful in keeping your panel up to date with the latest apps versions and bug fixes available. By using the OTA method versus a manual method, you retain all your settings on files.
When Boxlight releases an OTA update, your panel will automatically download the firmware when it restarts. It will not automatically install the firmware. After the restart and download, a pop up will appear on screen asking you to confirm the upgrade. If you select Confirm, the upgrade process will start and the process will take about 10 minutes. If you select Cancel, this pop-up message will appear after each restart of the panel until it is confirmed.
If you are unsure if the display has the latest firmware, you can check for the upgrade and manually start the download from the Settings application built into the panel. To do this:
- From the home screen tap Settings
- Tap System update
- Tap Check for update.
If an update is found, you can choose to download and install or to do nothing.
